SCOTUS-Same Sex Marriage Ruling
In a long sought victory the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of same sex marriage. Even though the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriage and the Constitution guarantees a right to same sex marriage, the State of Mississippi refused to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples at the Jackson County Clerks office Friday June 26, 2015. Knol Aust and his partner Duane Smith and Laurin Locke and her partner Tiffany Brosh are the first in same sex couples to apply for marriage license after the United States Supreme Court ruled. Barbara Dunn of the MS County Clerks Office had to deny their request because there is a stay in place. Pictured Barbara Dunn holds a Mississippi marriage license application.
