James Meredith Walk Againt Fear to Commemorate the 1966 walk 50 yr. Anniv.
Civil Rights icon James Meredith, 83, walks from the Smith Robertson museum in downtown Jackson MS. to the State Capitol to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of his historic Walk Against Fear in 1966. Meredith was shot on the second day of his walk in 1966 in Hernando MS and Dr. Martin Luther King and other major civil rights leaders of the time continued Meredith's March from Memphis to Jackson which ended at he State Capitol on June 26, 1966 with 15,000 marchers, the largest civil rights march ever in Mississippi.
